Start with the subject
Say who or what is on screen before anything else, with two or three visual details: "a silver-haired chef in a white apron" works far better than "a person".
Give it one clear action
Use active verbs for what changes over time: slices, turns toward the camera, steps into the rain. For longer shots, write the beats in order: "First…, then…, finally…".
Direct the camera
Name the framing and the move: close-up, wide shot, low angle; slow push-in, orbit, handheld tracking. Camera language is one of the strongest levers you have.
Set the light and style
Add lighting and look: golden hour, neon night, soft window light, 35mm film grain, anime, claymation. One or two style cues work better than a long list.
Write the sound
